The numbers are simple. 14K gold contains 14 parts gold out of 24 — approximately 58.3% gold. 18K gold contains 18 parts gold out of 24 — 75% gold. The remaining metals form the alloy that gives the ring its finished character.[1]
But the decision should never live on a spec sheet alone.
A yellow-gold solitaire can feel warm, classic, and quietly confident. White gold offers a neutral, bright frame for a diamond; it is commonly finished with rhodium plating, which may be renewed over time to preserve its crisp white appearance. Rose gold brings a softer warmth through its copper alloy.[2]
