LAMOR&CO began with a family belief: a meaningful piece of jewelry should be made with knowledge, care, and respect for the person who will wear it.
The Mello family has worked in jewelry for more than three decades. Their journey includes more than twenty-five years of jewelry work in New York and, later, two years in Florida. Over that time, Mr. Mello developed hands-on experience in fine-jewelry craftsmanship and work connected with the standards expected by houses such as Tiffany & Co. and Harry Winston. That experience shaped a simple conviction: a beautiful ring is not only about what it looks like in a photograph. It is about proportion, setting quality, finishing, comfort, durability, and the skill behind every decision.
A new path in Florida
When the family arrived in Florida, they encountered leading suppliers of laboratory-grown diamonds. They looked closely, asked questions, reviewed grading information, and were impressed by what they found. A laboratory-grown diamond is not a simulant. It is not cubic zirconia and it is not moissanite. The Gemological Institute of America explains that a laboratory-grown diamond has essentially the same chemical, optical, and physical properties and crystal structure as a mined diamond.[1]
That discovery opened a new path. For the Mello family, a laboratory-grown diamond offered a way to bring the beauty and technical standards they valued to more people, without asking clients to accept a lower level of craftsmanship. The laboratory-grown diamond route also avoids the mined-diamond supply chain. We believe that matters to people who want a different choice. At the same time, we believe in being precise: environmental impact depends on how energy and materials are sourced, so we do not make vague claims. Our responsibility is to explain the choice clearly and let each client decide what matters most to them.
Why LAMOR&CO was born
LAMOR&CO was created from that combination of family experience, technical curiosity, and respect for the client. We saw too many pieces of jewelry sold at extraordinary prices with little clarity about workmanship, materials, or the person actually making the piece. Too often, the client pays for layers of distance rather than for the quality of the jewelry itself.
We wanted to build something different: fine jewelry with the attention to detail associated with the world’s leading jewelry houses, while keeping the process personal and the price more approachable. Every design begins with the question that matters most: would we be proud to make this for our own family?
That question guides the selection of a laboratory-grown diamond, the proportions of a setting, the finish of the metal, and the way we communicate with a client. It also guides our service. Choosing an engagement ring can feel overwhelming. The vocabulary can be technical, the choices can be endless, and a photograph does not always show the difference between a well-made setting and one that only looks good at first glance.
Value built through craft
We believe a client deserves straightforward information. When a piece includes a laboratory-grown diamond with a grading report, clients should be able to read the report alongside the details of the finished jewelry: cut, color, clarity, proportions, metal, setting style, and the care behind the work. A report is important, but it is one part of the whole piece.
Our family’s experience has taught us that true value is never created by a label alone. It is created by craft, honest communication, and standing behind the work after the piece is delivered.
